L’Oreal — please do not take this product off the market. I absolutely love this product and it has completely transformed my dry, brittle hair into soft, silky, moisturized hair. My hair was damaged — chemically processed and flat ironed daily! Now when I comb my hair, I do not experience any breakage. My hair is super-moisturized and softer than I can describe. I can’t stop touching my hair throughout the day because it feels so amazing. I am absolutely shocked that a hair product that I purchased in a grocery store was able to outperform my expensive, high-end salon hair products. My hair has been damaged from highlighting and I was growing tired of the time it took to comb out the tangled mess it became after shampooing and conditioning. It was stressful. I was seriously thinking of cutting my hair short to get rid of all the damage. Then I saw this in the drug store and bought the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo left my hair in such great condition that I ran out and bought the overnight and weekly treatment. Last night I used the overnight treatment for the first time and just after shampooing it out, the comb ran right through the damaged strands. Plus, it smells great. I can not believe how much of an improvement I have seen already and I have not even had these products for a whole week.

I have keratin-treated hair, and I purchased this shampoo because it is sulfate-free. The trouble with other sulfate-free shampoos is that there’s hardly any lather (if at all), but this one produces a fine, luxurious lather that is very satisfying. However, I noticed right away that it was breaking down the keratin faster than my regular no-lather sulfate-free shampoo. After a few washes, the difference was very noticeable. It doesn’t make any sense, because there’s nothing in it that would degrade the keratin, but that’s what happened… So anyone out there with keratin-treated hair should think twice. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this as a sulfate-free shampoo.

I could not recommend this product more highly. I have a 12 year old german shepherd who suffers with arthritis. Our vet had prescribed Meloxicam, an NSAID. However, that category of drugs carries significant risks (ulcer formation as well as kidney or liver damage or failure). In my companion’s case, it caused an ulcer even though I gave him Pepcid before each dose of Meloxicam.
A store owner recommended this product, and within less than one week, there was so much improvement I was able to completely discontinue the NSAID, and my dog is now even better than he was when he was on the NSAID medication.
Please note though that this is not the best concentration for large breed dogs. I learned that Liquid Health’s ‘L-5000′ is designed for large dogs and is more highly concentrated. It too, is extremely effective.
I strongly urge the use of this supplement before resorting to medications that can cause serious to fatal internal damage.
My dog also finds it palatable, and I have not had any trouble feeding it to him, I just mix it in with his kibbles twice daily.

I have purchased this for approximately the past year and it has truly helped out 19 year old Maltese! I was to the point a year ago having to give him Metacam (Pain medicine) everyday. I have literally only used it for a few times in the past 8 months! I now also have my son buying it for his pomeranian, who also has bad back legs. KEEP selling this product I will buy it constantly!!!!!!

I have seen several Natural Beauty Product Recipe Books on the market, but this is by far the best. This book is easy, comprehensive and packed with information for the novice or seasoned bodycare product maker. This book covers several different topics and areas of making natural body products.
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Making Natural Beauty Products teaches you how to make products from scratch for your hair, face, body, feet and it even covers the subject on how to make mineral make up, lip balms and glosses.
This book has a wealth of information from the types of oils, butters and additives to use. The book also covers the subject of labeling cosmetics for sale, which is vital in the cosmetic making industry. I think this book is a must have. This is by far the best book on cosmetic making that I have read. I was looking for a ‘natural’ way of making my own cosmetics that had shelf life just in case I wanted to start selling the product. This abrasive facial mask is alright – I will use the rest of this jar but will not repurchase. The scent is very unpleasant and this burns my skin. I’m not sure this does much besides exfoliate your skin and there are other facial products that do that and they don’t burn or smell bad.
Size & Price: -This product will last a long time – the formula is very concentrated, I’ve had my jar for a very long time and I’ve only used half of it.
Using the products: -This is not a facial cleanser, it’s an after-you-wash facial product to improve your skin tone, you must wash and dry you face, then apply for 5 minutes, or as long gas you can stand the burn -This might not burn everyone’s skin but it burns mine a lot – this could also be because I use a Clarisonic so all of my skin is fairly “fresh” and “new” because I exfoliate regularly, so be careful if you have a frequent exfoliation routine, you probably won’t need this product -The smell of this product is difficult to describe but it’s very unpleasant – strong, sour chemical odor -The texture of this is like a thin whiteish-clear gel – it looks whiteish in the jar but when you apply to you skin it’s clear. There are very tiny exfoliating particles in this facial that scrub well, they are smaller than salt or sugar, not sure what they are actually made of. -Make sure you use your hands only when removing this cleanser from your face, scrubbing it off with a brush or washcloth is probably too rough for anyone’s skin -Make sure you moisturize after using this product.
I wouldn’t recommend using this more than twice a week due to the strength of the chemicals and level of abrasiveness.

This book is enlightening — it includes thorough dictionaries of both beneficial and potentially harmful cosmetic ingredients — but the writer seems to be schizophrenic or to have not thoroughly researched the topic, which, as a former journalist, is highly concerning. I was disappointed with her recommendations of products by Avalon Organics, JASON Naturals, Stella McCartney CARE, and Kiss My Face. These brands are hardly superior and were sued by Dr. Bronner’s last year for deceptively using the word “organic” and containing petro ingredients. However, the writer later retracted her recommendation of the Kiss My Face brand on her blog.
The retractions continue. She recommends bismuth oxychloride-containing powders by Bare Escentuals in the book (which I was shocked to read since she claims to be a purist) but later says on her blog that bismuth oxychloride can “irritate sensitive skin like mad.” Half the people who’ve used BE and developed red, itchy skin can tell you this. She spends an entire page on avoiding toners with alcohol (duh), then recommends an alcohol-packed toner by Dr. Hauschka.
Speaking of Dr. Hauschka, Ms. Gabriel recommends nearly every Hauschka product made. (By the book’s end, one suspects her of having too-close relations with the company.) I respect Dr. Hauschka’s biodynamic farming practices, but they use a high amount of alcohol as preservative. Combined with their heavy nut oils (e.g. peanut oil), their pricey products are infamous for breaking people out in milia or causing irritations. There are FAR better organic lines these days.
The book is packed with DIY recipes that require impractical & expensive ingredients, like rose oil, elderflower water, and calendula blossoms. What full-time working woman with a kid has the time or money? And tips like “shampoo your hair with plain egg”? How would that begin to cut oil and grime??
UPDATE: In addition to her questionable expertise, the writer has begun using her blog to bash other organic skincare lines hoping, most likely, of selling her own organic skincare line. There are now retractions on Juice Beauty (certified organic), Jurlique (biodynamic) and L’Uvalla (a lovely new line at Whole Foods). It’s bizarre that she would attack these brands while gushing about Bare Escentuals’ mediocre and conventionally farmed skincare line. Not to mention, this is the same Bare Escentuals that’s being sued in California for making false and misleading statements about its sales. Where are Ms. Gabriel’s allegiances and what is her agenda?

As other reviewers have noted, there are contradictions in this book that undermine it’s overall credibility. Here’s one that’s particularly egregious: On page 189, Gabriel describes lecithin as a “green emulsifier”; yet, in Appendix B (“100 Toxic Cosmetic Ingredients You Don’t Want in Your Beauty Products”) ingredient #55 is–believe it or not–lecithin. This is inexcusable to me.

I found this book to be a bit trendy. Do American women really have the time to mix their own beauty products? No one I know does. Page 57 warns of celebrity endorsements, yet page 75 refers to all the celebrities who use Suki Naturals. She consistently quotes opinions from the makers of natural products, but they are stated like facts. Conventional products do this too, and it is wrong. She loves Dr. Hauschka mascara in the book, but says it runs on her website. Little things like this bugged me. I did learn about ingredients to avoid so all was not lost.

I have the dreaded oily, dry, acne-prone skin, which is really annoying to bear with once you are in your 20s. This winter, my skin has been flaking off, and I have been struggling to find a lotion that was light enough so as to not clog my poor, while being heavy enough to actually moisturize. It has been only a couple of days, and my skin is looking wonderful. No more flaking! The smell is actually pretty nice, and no acne popping up due to this!

I have to agree with those who have previously rated this product. I am 53 years old and have always had dry skin. Biore’ Hard Day’s Night Overnight Moisturizer is the best product I’ve ever used. Especially when my husband kisses my check in the morning and says, “You smell nice”.

I am in love with the entire biore line, but especially this product. When I had dry skin, it took care of it within one use. Plus, it doesn’t add oil to any oil spots [ I even put it on my T-Zone]. This evens out your skin type and is great to have for dry-combination skin. Just make sure you only use this at night, because it is too heavy as a morning moisturizer!

This product is great. At first, I thought it was a little thick…then, after using it for a few days, people have been commenting on how great my skin looks! And I’m 63 and live in the Southwest where the weather is very dry. I like the ingredients…It contains all the good stuff for wrinkles and dry skin. I bought this product at my local CVS, but, for sure, I will buy through Amazon… I believe it is even eligible for free shipping!

I started using this product about 10 days ago. I can’t believe the difference in my skin. The fine lines around my eyes and also the little “bags” under them have diminished. My skin feels and looks wonderful. I love the fact that it also has a 30 SPF in it and it goes on easily. I use it on my neck and chest as well. It leaves a nice glow to the skin. (another little secret I have been doing at night..instead of using a moisturizer I have been using extra virgin olive oil….you will be amazed at the results )

I have been a loyal Olay customer for well over ten years and have been using their Definity night restorative cream for years along with a form of Retina regularly. Admittedly, I got this Neutrogena free to try from the Vine Program but that is not why I like it so much. I am 44 and my skin has SOME wrinkles, and considerable discoloration from redness(no porcelian skin like when I was young). My skin is also extremely oily, prone to adult acne and I am beyond pale but otherwise think my skin has faired pretty well. I have become pretty skeptical of skin products and basically just gave up fads and stuck with Olay and Retina. Well maybe someone dropped a hallucinagen in my coffee but I swear I noticed better skin the next morning. I actually made myself hold off on writing this reveiw to make sure it wasn’t just the result of a good nights sleep. After several days even the big crease between my eyes isn’t as deep, and the discoloration has lessened almost to the point I can go without foundation! I stopped using the Retina because I saw more results with this in one week than I have seen in years of Retina. I don’t know if it is such a miracle worker that it would help someone who has abused their skin, but for me, I feel like I look at least 5 years younger. I am now sold on this stuff forever. I know some others mentioned the scent being strong but I hardly noticed it.

Best Guide to All Natural Skin Care, March 7, 2012

I bought this for my wife. She is very concerned about her health as well as always wanting to look her best. Recently we were talking and she told me about parabens, a chemical in many skin health products. It turns out parabens are pretty nasty and she did not want to keep using products like that on her face. I told her she should make her own, I mean she already uses cucumbers on her eyes. She thought that was a great idea.
I found this book on Amazon and gave it to her to read. She was very interested and asked me to read it too. This book is great. First, it explained in more detail about parabens and other chemicals that are in most skin care products. Then it went through a bunch of items you should have around your house like bananas, oranges, corn meal, coconut, and a lot more. It explains how each of these can be used to help your skin.
Then the book gave a list of recipes for facial masks, moisturizing creams, eye treatments, and more. Each recipe included a list of ingredients and instructions explaining how to use them.
My wife and I have tried making on of the mask so far. It was easy and fun to make. Then we had a lot of fun putting the masks on ourselves and scarring our kids.
Great book and definitely recommend you pick this one up.
